Black History Month Activations in Oakland

In addition to promoting this year's Black Joy Parade activations, Visit Oakland is also spotlighting/highlighting Oaklanders who are making Black History in the world of tourism via  Visit Oakland's Instagram. We'll also continue our promotion of Oakland's Black-owned businesses to local media.

If you have a Black-owned business you want to promote, please email partherships@visitoakland.com with the business details so we can update our directories.

Likewise, if you know of any events or activations taking place to commemorate Black History Month, please email partnerships@visitoakland.com as well with more details.

Oakland Restaurant (and More) Week 2021 Recap

We knew Restaurant Week 2021 would be different - and difficult - for many, so we launched Oakland Restaurant (and More) Week to promote all businesses that contribute to Oakland's culinary fabric. We are grateful for everyone who gave their time to participate this year - several businesses have shared great news that the campaign helped give a boost in a much-needed time. We achieved:

  • 59 participating businesses
  • 19,890 partner referrals
  • 57,546 Restaurant Week website sessions
  • 164 posts with #OaklandLetsEat hashtag
  • 16 news articles and TV interviews

As COVID-19 regulations continue to change, Visit Oakland will remain diligent in creating new campaigns and activations to support Oakland's small businesses. Please stay tuned, and get in touch if you have ideas or events you'd like support with.
